The past few weeks have been pretty interesting. It all started with a Friday night hockey game. A supposedly safe game, a senior rec. league, a no checking league… yeah. Even though it was a low key game, it didn’t stop me from skating hard like a fool and breaking myself up. After picking myself up off the ice, I was pretty sure I had broken my collar bone. Running my finger along the bone was quite interesting, like a touch game of now you see it now you don’t. The E.R. visit and the x-ray’s confirmed my suspicions. The doctor recommended that I see an orthopedic surgeon and I did. A week later I was being prepped for surgery. The surgery went pretty well, until I was waking up and the pain meds they gave me almost put me back out. Apparently a pulse of 30 BPM isn’t something they like to see. After I insisted that I was starting to feel better they let me go home and I’ve been here ever since, at camp slouchy shoulder, a little fort I built on my couch with the help of my wonderful wife, who by the way has been amazing through this whole ordeal.
These are the before and after pictures of my surgery. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna be setting off the airport alarms for sure now!
